What to do about a cold your child?

Now that cooler weather begins and unpleasant, you have to take precautions with your child. Many times, a cold is easily avoided if we pay a little more attention to the movements and activities of our children. But what to do when your child has caught this blessed autumn cold?

The common cold usually affects the respiratory upper tract, i.e. nose and throat. It is very common in children mainly in autumn and winter. The condition itself is cured in a week at most but a cough or runny nose or the lungs may persist much longer.

What should I do when my child catches cold?

  • Moisturizes the home environment. To put water tanks in the radiators is sufficient.
  • Wash your child’s nose with physiological saline. In young children, to provide food, will be made before the shots.
  • Give plenty of fluids.
  • Check body temperature regularly.
  • If have a headache, give some pain medicine for children.

Consult your doctor immediately if you see that the child gets worse, difficulty breathing or a fever.

And Remember…

  1. There are no medicines to cure colds. It only relieve the symptoms.
  2. Antibiotics do not cure colds. It prescribed to fight infection but never for colds or flu, which are viral.
  3. If you smoke, do not do in front of your children. Quitting smoking is always a good idea, especially if you have young children.
