The tonsillitis – commonly called angina – is a condition that occurs when our tonsils become inflamed as a result of an assault by some kind of virus or bacteria. This situation generates a scenario where it is usual to have symptoms such as pain, discomfort, fever or even infections.
Since this part of our body is one of the first lines of defense so that external bodies do not penetrate the inside of our body, we must take care of it as soon as possible once it is inflamed. With this objective in mind, we can resort to a series of home remedies of easy preparation.
Combat inflammation of the tonsils with home remedies
Due to the tonsillitis develops because of an infection caused by a virus or bacterium, there is a homemade remedy that will help us to reduce inflammation in the area already relieve some of the most common symptoms of the disease.

- Mix half a cup of water with ΒΌ cup of apple cider vinegar. Soak a handkerchief and wrap it around your throat. Leave until it dries.
- Place a cut ripe radish and three pieces of pineapple in the blender. Add two garlic cloves and water. Blend well and drink every morning on an empty stomach.
- Boil a cup of water and pour into a teaspoon of chamomile and sage flowers for five minutes. Let infuse for 15 minutes, covered. Strain and gargle every two hours.
- In the blender place half liter of orange juice, four garlic cloves, four guavas, two tablespoons of honey and a slice of onion. Mix well and drink a glass every 8 hours. It is also ideal to fight the cold.
- Mix hot or warm milk with clay until it forms a soft paste. Place as a poultice with a thick cloth around the neck.
- Warm lemonade with honey also turns out to be a tremendously effective home-made remedy to relieve the inconveniences derived from the suffering of an inflammation of the tonsils. Both lemon and honey are two excellent natural products to fight against all types of infections, which is why these can relieve the symptoms of angina. Eucalyptus infusion, for its part, can also help us to reduce the impact of this disease.
Tips to avoid tonsillitis
- You must stay healthy and follow a proper diet, with many vegetables and fruits that offer vitamin C, which serve to improve the immune system (e.g. citrus, tangerine, orange, grapefruit, etc)
- Stay away from those people who are sick so do not get sick. Whether it’s someone from your family, protect your mouth or do not spend too much time with it.
- Sleep at least 8 hours a day, because it will help you protect your defense system.
